Expert meeting IAACA - EPAC

Expert meeting_IAACAOn 28 January 2010, Ye Feng, Secretary General of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA), Eduardo Vetere, Vice President of the IAACA, and Martin Kreutner, President of the EPAC/EACN, met in Vienna for an informal exchange of information.

The meeting was held against the background of the development and enhancement of international cooperation between the anti-corruption authorities and networks worldwide in their common fight against the globalization of corruption. The desire for strengthening the exchange of knowledge between Europe, Asia as well as North and South America was one of the agenda items. "The European countries have acquired a lot of knowledge and experience in effectively combating corruption," said SG Ye Feng and added that he saw EPAC and their President, Martin Kreutner, as strong partners in Europe.

According to Ye Feng, Vetere and Kreutner, the establishment of the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA), which is currently being set up in cooperation with the United Nations (UNODC) and the Republic of Austria and with the support of the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF), will serve as an important measure to improve the sustainable prevention of corruption. The three anti-corruption experts agreed that the worldwide awareness and perception of the effects of corrupt behaviour can only be raised by means of specialized training and seminars, personal conversations and the active commitment of all.
