1st Meeting of the Working Group on Constitutions

WG Constitution_IIFrom 20 to 21 April 2009, the first informal working group meetings on possible future terms of reference for the EPAC as well as for the more formalized contact-point network against corruption (EACN) took place at the Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior.

As agreed in the Manchester Declaration and announced in the last EPAC Newsletter, the first informal meetings of the EPAC Partners Working Group "Constitution” and the EACN Constitution Working Group were held in Vienna at the beginning of this week. Nearly 30 heads and key representatives of 14 EPAC partners from 10 EU Member States came together for two half-days in order to start drafting proposals for ToRs regulating the collaboration within the structures of EPAC and the EACN.

In this open process, basic terms of reference were compiled. Discussions on them will be continued until the 9th Annual EPAC Conference from 4 to 6 November 2009 in Slovenia, where the draft documents shall be presented for discussion and approval. As the drafting process is going to proceed for at least one other working group meeting, all EPAC members are invited to engage themselves and participate in these future meetings. The successful and productive working group meetings showed promising prospects concerning further progress and have once again reinforced the ever closer cooperation of organizations fighting corruption within Europe and beyond.
