2012 CACOLE Conference

cacole.jpgFrom 28 to 30 May 2012, the Canadian Association for Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement (CACOLE) will host a conference entitled "Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement in the 21st Century: Technology and Attitudes”. The venue will be the International Toronto Yorkville in Toronto, Ontario.

The discussions will focus on numerous subjects related to the central theme, the use of technology in law enforcement. They include the use of social media, cell phone and police video technology and their impact on police accountability; cooperation among the police boards/commissions, municipalities and provincial oversights bodies; investigative skills, competencies for police officers and their applicability for policy oversight organizations; case studies on the use of technology for investigative purposes; the adequate use of force; and legal issues surrounding Aboriginal policing. The methodology of the conference includes not only panel discussion, but actual an classroom training, utilizing a use of force training scenario.

The price for registrations received before 31 March is 800 CAD + 13% tax. Registrations made after 31 March will cost 850 CAD + 13% tax for members and 900 CAD + 13% tax for non-members. The prices include all meals and breaks for the duration of the event, except the Monday dinner.
