Task force on Training and Transfer of Knowledge organises webinars for the EPAC/EACN community

On October 26th, the Task force on Training and Transfer of Knowledge (TTK) organised a webinar on the topic of Whistleblowers’ protection for the EPAC/EACN community. The aim of the webinar was to shed more light on different approaches to whistleblowers’ protection and transposition of the EU Directive to the national legislation across Europe. This event gathered more than 60 participants.

In the opening speech the Head of the Lithuanian Special Investigation Service, EPAC/EACN President Žydrūnas Bartkus emphasized that “webinars are a platform of sharing new ideas and not the teaching of each other. This webinar is a beginning of practical activities among EPAC/EACN members.”

Three presentations were given during this first webinar by:

  • Ms Kristien Verbraeken and Mr Wilbert Tomesen, representatives of the Dutch Whistleblowers Authority, “House of Whistleblowers” (Huis voor Klokkenluiders),
  • Mr Rody Butler, Senior Investigating Officer of the Ireland Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission,
  • Mr Hugh Hume, Commissioner of the Ireland Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission.

At the end of the webinar it was unanimously agreed, that whistleblowers shield us form the harm. However, society has to play their role in protecting them.

TTK task force is already inviting to register for the second webinar on the topic of “Importance and Useful Examples about Good Practice Sharing”. The webinar will take place on Wednesday, November 16th, 2022, 2 PM (CET, 14:00) via “ZOOM”.
