The 2022 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) was released by Transparency International, a non-government organization. Data reveal scant progress against corruption as the world becomes more violent. The average CPI score in EPAC/EACN member countries (38 countries) is 58.34 (in 2021 – 58.68), compared to the EU average of 64 and the world average of 43 (see graphic below or click here).
EPAC/EACN President Žydrūnas Bartkus states, “To make positive changes, we need to expand inter-institutional cooperation with each other and with our domestic and foreign partners. Learning from top experts and exchange of best practices is one of the main priorities of the EPAC/EACN Network. Improving results can only become a tendency if we take responsibility together to create a transparent Europe.”.
According to the latest CPI, the top-ranked countries in the EPAC/EACN network are Denmark (90) and Finland (87), followed by Norway (84), Sweden (83), and the Netherlands (80) with scores above 80.
The Index ranks 180 countries and territories based on the level of public sector corruption as perceived by experts and business people. It uses data from 13 independent sources and scores countries on a scale from zero to 100, where zero represents high corruption and 100 means very clean.
