The Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2021 was published by the non-governmental organisation Transparency International. Data reveals that corruption levels remain at a standstill worldwide. The situation is also quite stable in member countries of the EPAC/EACN Network.
The average CPI in EPAC/EACN member countries (38 countries) is 58.68, compared to the EU average of 64 and the world of 43.
“As we are at the forefront of the fight against corruption in our countries, we are also collectively responsible for the overall picture of transparency in Europe. I invite all of us not to hesitate and to initiate the necessary changes. Europe will change only if we do,” says EPAC/EACN President Žydrūnas Bartkus.
According to the latest CPI, the top countries in our Network are Denmark and Finland, each with a score of 88. Norway (85), Sweden (85), the Netherlands (82), Luxembourg (81) and Germany (80) are the countries with a score above 80.
The Index ranks 180 countries and territories according to the level of corruption in the public sector as perceived by experts and business people. It is based on 13 independent data sources and uses a scale from zero to 100, where zero means highly corrupt and 100 means very clean.
